University of Alberta Augustana Choirs, together with Chorale Saint-Jean, members of Camrose Camerata and the Requiem Orchestra combine forces to perform the magnificent Requiem for the Living by Dan Forrest, a contemporary work for choir and full orchestra. All three of Augustana’s choirs (led by John Wiebe) together with Chorale Saint-Jean (led by Laurier Fagnan) and members of Camrose Camerata (led by Joy-Anne Murphy) will unite their 180 voices to sing this masterpiece.  This new work has been performed around the world to rave reviews and recognized for its grandeur and timeless beauty.  The Augustana Choir and Chorale Saint-Jean will also perform selections from amongst their favourites. This is going to be one concert you will not want to miss this year.

The Augustana campus of the University of Alberta is proud host to one of Western Canada’s oldest collegiate choral programs.  Since 1912 we have had a choir on our campus and today we host one of the leading undergraduate choral programs in our country, led by our auditioned chamber ensemble, The Augustana Choir.  Together with our two student-community choirs, Sangkor and Mannskor, we total over 100 singers who proudly continue the Augustana tradition of presenting large-scale choral-orchestral works in our community.

Established in 1937, Chorale Saint-Jean of the University of Alberta’s Campus Saint-Jean is one of Edmonton’s longest-established choirs. With members coming from both the francophone community and the university student body, Chorale Saint-Jean was formed to celebrate and preserve the heritage and language of the francophone community in the west and has become the largest and most active francophone choir in Western Canada.

Don’t miss this evening of beautiful, moving choral-orchestral music, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 8:00 pm at Cargill Theater, Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre, Camrose.  Tickets are available now at the Box Office, 780 608 2922 or www.camroselive.ca.
