Please note: Marie-Ève Scarfone is unable to attend this performance, however, pianist Akiko Tominaga is taking over as pianist with Stéphane Tétreault.

Stéphane Tétreault’s playing has been called “astonishingly mature not merely in its technical attributes but also in its warmth, brilliance and subtlety of colour and inflection” by Gramophone Magazine. In 2022, he was awarded the Prix Opus for Performer of the Year from the Conseil québécois de la musique.

Born in Japan and raised in the United States, pianist Akiko Tominaga has been hailed by critics and audiences across North America, Europe and Japan. She began her studies at age four, and made her solo debut in 1992 playing the Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.

Their fusion of cello and piano is layered with complexity and nuance, performed with an intensity which pulls the listener in. The contained chemistry of the Tétreault-Scarfone Duo transcends the ordinary to venture into the sublime. This performance is part of Prairie Debut.

And from Akiko:

This performance is part of the Cynthia Marks Chamber Music Series, with the sponsor wishing to support FCSS in Camrose!
