Performing Arts Series Brings the World to Camrose

·

Sometimes you just need to bring the world to you.

That’s the goal of the Tracy Brandingen RE/MAX Real Estate Acclaim Series this year at the Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre in Camrose; to bring quality world, classical, and folk music to the community you wouldn’t normally have access to.

We started this series with an amazing performance on Friday, Sept. 22 with “the Greek god of guitar” Pavlo. He wowed the audience with his amazing guitar skills and the band had everyone clapping, shaking their hips, and yelling “Opa!” We had rave reviews for this incredible performance.

The music doesn’t stop with Pavlo. Check out the amazing concerts coming to Camrose through the Acclaim Series:

1 – Milton Schlosser, Moonlight: Sunday, Nov. 5

Milton Schlosser was a professor at the University of Alberta’s Augustana campus and he’s returning to Camrose since his retirement for a special, one-night only performance. Many folks in Camrose know Milton from his days at the university.

We’re excited to see Milton back on stage in the Cargill Theatre in the Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre performing a variety of classical and jazz pieces on our nine-foot Steinway and Sons piano.

2 – Chiki Lora: Thursday, Feb. 1

An amazing Spanish pop musician, we first saw Chiki Lora at a special trade mission to Columbia. We immediately were enamoured by Chiki’s dynamic sound. He’s a genius musician with a unique energy.

He’s not tied to any genre but drinks a bit from all of them. No barriers can stop him. He flows freely through them. Just like water, he can both be a strong torrent or a placid flow.

3 – Gordie MacKeeman and His Rhythm Boys: Sunday, March 3

There’s no other band around like Gordie MacKeeman and His Rhythm Boys. Led by fiddling wiz Gordie “Crazylegs” MacKeeman, the roots quartet features all-star pickers and singers, with everything from down-home country to reckless rockabilly to intricate bluegrass.

He’s got the energy, he’s got the folky bluegrass sound, and he’s got a strong following. We’re extremely excited to have him in the Cargill Theatre.
