We are absolutely thrilled to unveil our next captivating visual art display, featuring the exquisite work of local artist Leola Forster! Her exhibit will grace the walls of the Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Performing Arts Centre lobby from October 7th to November 10th.
Leola’s art is a heartfelt ode to the landscapes that have shaped her life. Growing up, teaching, and farming in Sedgewick, Alberta, the rural prairie has deeply influenced her paintings. “I enjoy the prairie landscape in every season,” Leola shares. “I am trying to catch the light and patterns I see.”

Her passion for the outdoors shines through in every piece, whether she’s capturing the vibrant colours and textures of summer flowers, the peaceful contrasts of a winter scene, or simply “sitting among the trees, listening to the breeze through the leaves, touching the texture of bark, and feeling the warmth of the sun.” For Leola, “A good day…is one spent outdoors sketching.”
An alumna of the U of A Extension Art Certificate program, Leola’s work is also part of the Alberta Art Foundation and she is proudly represented by Candler Gallery.
As our art curator, Jane Cherry, enthusiastically states, “I am thrilled to be showcasing Leola’s art! Leola is a diverse artist who puts her heart and soul into her art. Enjoy!!”
